An Operating System is the basic software that controls a computer system. It handles how the hardware behaves, the communication with peripheral devices for instance a monitor, a printer or a keyboard, the allocation of memory between the installed applications, as well as the prioritization of apps if several run concurrently. Any program that's installed on a computer system functions by sending requests to the OS for various services using an application program interface (API). The interaction with the OS is possible using a Graphical User Interface (GUI) or a command line. In the Internet hosting field, the OS is what controls a server along with any software installed on it, which includes not only website scripts, but also every other application for instance a VOIP or a game server. When there are virtual machines created, they work with a guest OS that runs on the server host OS.

Multiple OS in VPS Servers

Our VPS server plans feature three Linux distributions that you can choose from for the Operating System of your new hosting server - Debian, Ubuntu and CentOS. Aside from being 100 % free, the OSs are extremely stable and safe and the key reason to offer you all three of them is to make sure that you will be able to run each app that you'd like, as different pieces of software may have different requirements with regards to the environment they can be used on. Each of the three OSs is supported by a vast community of developers who have produced many hundreds of software packages that you can set up and use on your VPS. Depending on the Operating System which you select, you will also be able to select between 3 different Control Panels to handle your hosting content. Of course, if you decide that you need a different OS, we could always reinstall the server with it. As a paid upgrade, we also provide weekly updates of the OS for maximum stability and security.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Servers

The dedicated server solutions that we offer come with three different Operating Systems to pick from. They are all Linux release - Ubuntu, CentOS and Debian, and not only do they have no license charges, but they’re also known as the most stable and secure OSs. We offer three different ones as each one of them is backed by a separate community. The packages that you could add on your hosting server are different and this may matter if you need to install some piece of software with particular requirements regarding the hosting environment. In this light, the internet hosting Control Panel which you can select for the dedicated server also depends on the Operating System that you will pick. You can pick any of the three Operating Systems during the order process, but if needed, we can always install the server once again with a different one upon your request. As an additional service that you could add to the package any time, we can update your OS on a regular basis in order to keep it as risk-free as possible.
